Public Security Bureau Issued Quotas To Arrest Christians

A detained believers’ couple in Jilin Province has learned that the police were issued quotas for arresting the Christians.

In the morning of March 2, 2018, Christian Zhang Li used his ID card to buy a train ticket in a town in Songyuan city, Jilin Province. Because he had a record of having been arrested for his faith, the police were called, and he was arrested on the spot. They found and took a Bible from his luggage as well as other Christian literature.

Around 1 p.m. the same day, the Songyuan police went to search his house and also arrested his wife, detaining both of them. When their son learned about the arrest of his parents, he used his connections to secure their release after 15 days.

The police said that the government is striking hard against religion this year, and the Public Security Bureau has assigned this town to arrest 44 Christians. Currently, detained believers are all given heavy sentences of three to five years.

According to informed sources, in the fall of 2001, Zhang Li was reported on for providing support to another believer and was consequently detained for 15 days and fined RMB 2,000.
